THE HISTORY OF SMITHVILLE

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NEW JERSEY

In 1980, Historian William C. Bolger wrote "Smithville, The Result of Enterprise" for the Burlington County Cultural and Heritage Commission under the auspices of the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders. We have attempted to digest many of the highlights of this landmark book in order to provide a snapshot of the history of what is now Smithville Park. We encourage those interested in learning the whole story to purchase the book. However, we have broken down our Chronology of the story of Smithville into five periods.
